QUALITY CONTROL & TESTING PROTOCOLS

METICULOUS VERIFICATION AT EVERY STAGE

Precision surgical instruments require unwavering consistency. A minor variation in blade curvature, jaw tooth pitch, or hinge play can affect tactile feedback in the operating theatre.

At Wimco Surgical Industries, quality control is an integrated multi-step protocol spanning incoming raw stainless steel verification to final pre-shipment functional testing. We prioritize reproducible mechanical performance, hygienic clean surfaces, and reliable corrosion protection.

Our Testing Standard

Testing protocols are conducted in accordance with international ASTM and ISO surgical instrument guidelines (ASTM F899 for stainless steel metallurgy and ASTM F1089 for corrosion resistance testing).

100% Pre-Dispatch Functional Verification

Instruments are individually tested on surgical test media (such as latex sheeting for cutting sharpness and calibrated pins for needle holder jaw retention) prior to release.

THE 6 QUALITY AUDIT STAGES

1. Material Inspection

Verification of incoming stainless steel billets through spectrometry to guarantee compliant chemical composition (Chromium, Carbon, Nickel, and Molybdenum content), structural density, and absence of internal impurities.

2. Dimensional Checking

High-precision digital vernier calipers, micrometers, and optical profile projectors are utilized to check overall lengths, blade profiles, jaw thicknesses, and serration pitch against client technical drawings.

3. Surface Inspection

100% visual inspection under magnification to guarantee surfaces are completely free of burrs, tool marks, cracks, pits, scratches, and discoloration, ensuring a uniform satin anti-glare finish.

4. Functional Inspection

Tactile verification of joint smoothness, box lock alignment, and ratchet catch locking without catching or sticking. Cutting instruments are checked for uniform shearing action from pivot screw to tip.

5. Boil & Corrosion Testing

Sample batches undergo the standard autoclave boil test and copper sulfate test (ASTM F1089) to verify the integrity of the passive oxide layer and confirm zero rust formation under demanding sterile conditions.

6. Packaging Review

Final audit confirming correct laser markings, item codes, quantity counts, protective tip sheathing, moisture desiccants, and barcode labeling prior to master carton sealing for international dispatch.

Routine Quality Testing Summary
